We come from the worlds of animation, filmmaking, screenwriting, improvisational theatre, brand management and new product development. What unites us is a deep love of story and a desire to bring an understanding of character and story to marketing.
Origins
Before our launch in 2002, Character was incubated at Will Vinton Studios as The Character Development Lab. Vinton Studios (now known as Laika Entertainment) has been creating compelling characters for 30 years in both entertainment and advertising. The Studio’s entertainment work has won an Academy Award and eleven Emmys. Prominent commercial characters brought to life at Vinton Studios include the California Raisins and the M&M’s. From these beginnings, we have developed a deep, first-hand understanding of character and story.
